Experimental Investigations on Strengthened Reinforced Concrete Columns under Monotonic Axial Loading

Strengthening of the existing reinforced concrete (RC) column is nessesary to enhance their axial load-carrying capacity or ductility. This paper presents results an experimental study relating performance columns strengthened with different techniques such as steel angle, straps, and ferro-cement under pure load. A total six square short were constructed. The cross-section height tested are 150×150 mm 1.2 m, respectively. Two specimens set control (without strengthening). other four techniques. angles at each corner confined prestressed straps. Another two also straps ferro-cement. reported in terms load-deformation curves well failure modes. significant enhancement maximum ductility observed for columns. Finally, discussion use strengthening carried out this paper.
